Work experience for undergraduates

Endorsement

Natalie Chaplin has worked closely and sensitively with several undergraduates studying English at UCS during the last academic year. She offers them the opportunity to see theatre, dance and other arts events at local venues and then, within a limited time frame, write reviews for her online magazine. The idea is to replicate as closely as possible the conditions of a 'real life' journalist/reviewer. This project enables students to have a taste of work with just the right amount of expectation and professional pressure. This liaison is very successful in giving students applied experience to add to their CVs. Natalie sets high standards and those taking part appreciate the way she encourages their ambition and nurtures their talent. I very much hope we can continue our partnership with Natalie. Gill Lowe

Ipswich Town and Waterfront works tirelessly to support the promotion of the town of Ipswich, and our students have gained some very valuable experience in writing for the web, benefiting greatly from her skills, connections, experience and under her mentorship. Natalie works closely with the course team of Event and Tourism management at UCS to help us achieve a high employability record.

A really interesting task that allowed me to apply skills that I had learnt in College to a real life situation. Thank you to Natalie and Kevin for this experience

This project taught me a lot about Ipswich's heritage. It was really enjoyable, giving me valuable journalistic experience. Natalie and Kevin are obviously very passionate and knowledgeable and were always on hand for advice and feedback.

Ipswich Town and Waterfront were very supportive of our Enterprise Academy. They offered an excellent project which allowed the students to have a real world experience-not just a case study. They attended meetings with the students and gave very useful feedback in the final presentation.

Natalie Chaplin was the driving force behind my warm and welcoming placement at Ipswich Town & Waterfront. The company has an admirable vision of what Ipswich could be and more importantly, Natalie Chaplin has the determination to make the vision a reality. Ipswich Town & Waterfront is a company that genuinely cares for Ipswich and it's potential, founded by people who live and work in the town themselves. Ipswich Town & Waterfront has done amazing things in the last year and will continue to do so for a long time yet.
