West Suffolk College Annual Careers Fair

On Tuesday 15 March, Simon Severwright (Chief Surveyor) and Karen Dukes (Marketing Co-ordinator) from Barnes joined with a number of other construction based companies to attend the West Suffolk College’s annual careers fair which was held at the Milburn Centre campus. This year, the careers fair was aimed at specific industries to help College students to gain employability information from industry professionals and to discover the different routes into this industry. More specifically, the fair enabled companies to have a stand and showcase what a career in their organisation is like. Students were able to gather valuable information from each of the organisations on what careers are available and how they go about getting the right entry qualifications for some of the roles. The event was host to over 15 companies throughout the day and in excess of 200 students attended, including some of the local Year 11 students who were thinking about their options after GCSEs. This proved to be a great opportunity for them to find out more, thus enabling them to make an informed decision regarding their future careers.

Endorsement

Barnes Construction attended our Your Future Careers Event which was held in partnership with Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, their contribution to ensuring that this event was a success was particularly important in helping the College in promoting positive Labour Market Information and Employability to our students by providing extremely valuable and useful advice across a range of trades within the sector. I really appreciated the support hey gave to me as the organiser and to the students
