Prudential RideLondon 100

On Sunday 31st July, two members of our staff at Barnes Construction swapped their hard hats for cycling helmets to take part in the Prudential RideLondon 100 to raise money for the Arthur Rank Hospice. Ian Vince (Senior Design Manager) and Alex Drouet (Assistant Design Manager), were not only able to raise the £500 sponsorship required to take part in the ride, but a total amount of £1360 was finally reached with the invaluable help of Daniel Sheldrake (Senior Design & BIM Manager) who actually worked on the project. Daniel was unfortunately forced to defer his place due to a serious hamstring injury but although it was a great shame that Daniel was unable to ride with his colleagues after all the effort he had put into his training, he was certainly with them in spirit! The 100 mile route, on closed roads, started in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and followed the route of the 2012 Olympic road race, finishing on The Mall. The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity supports people in Cambridgeshire who are living with a life-limiting illness. Their care and services are provided free of charge to patients with a view to helping them and their loved ones to make every moment count. The team were delighted to have been able to raise money for such a worthy cause.
